We’re excited to share that The Moss Shop Chicago was recently featured on NBC Chicago Today, where we showcased our handcrafted moss art frames and moss bowls in a lifestyle segment with hosts Matthew Rodrigues and Cortney Hall.
The segment highlights what preserved moss is, why it’s maintenance-free, and how to decorate with moss artwork in modern homes and workspaces.

During the NBC Chicago Today feature, we brought a mix of signature pieces so viewers could see the texture and depth of preserved moss up close. The segment included a variety of designs, including:
Watching our pieces displayed in-studio was a proud moment and a great opportunity to share how moss décor can elevate a space without adding maintenance.
One of the key questions discussed in the segment was: what is preserved moss?
Preserved moss is real moss that has been stabilized through a preservation process. It’s no longer alive, but it retains its natural texture and color. Because of this, it requires no water, no sunlight, no soil, and no trimming.
This is what makes preserved moss ideal for framed moss artwork, moss art walls, and tabletop pieces like moss bowls.
We’re often asked about upkeep, and Matthew and Cortney asked the same thing on-air: does moss art require maintenance?
The short answer is: no ongoing maintenance.
Our only recommendation is to keep preserved moss indoors and avoid direct water exposure. That’s it.
The segment also covered styling tips to make moss artwork feel intentional and elevated in a finished space.
We’ve included the full video segment below so you can see our moss art frames and bowls in action, learn more about preserved moss, and hear the styling discussion from the show.
